Jesus was not helpless

Jesus was NOT helpless at the cross

Why Jesus went to the cross?

The bible tells us that long ago before the foundation of the world was laid, God loves us!

His mercy and grace is amazing. It never ends!

We can still thank God even if we dont have the things that we want. Jesus is enough. Don’t be affected by the things that we do not have.

There are many things that we can rejoice about.

Our circumstances can always turn around. God can turn every evil situation around for our good! He is for us and not against us!

The truth is Jesus. Jesus is the truth and the Life!

Jesus is the resurrection and the Life! We live in a time when we will see the dead raised.

God has said so! This is the season for the children of God to raise up. We have a Saviour with everlasting love!

There are things that we don’t like to do and don’t want to do, yet we do it anyway.

Jesus did that because of love!

Matthew 26:36-39
The Prayer in the Garden
Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “ Sit here while I go and pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “ My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “ O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

King of glory was willing to wash His disciples’ feet.

Gethsemane means Oil Press.

This was a moment of sorrow for our Lord. He was going to go to the cross. He knew everything that is going to happen to Him. He knew He will become the Man of Sorrow.

He knew all that yet He was determined to go to the cross.

The cup was not referred to the human pain.

Luke 12:4
Jesus Teaches the Fear of God
“ And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

Jesus is the fearless Lion. He IS the Lion!

This cup was referred to the divine fury, anger and judgement that God will pour on Him

References of what the cup referred to –

Isaiah 51:17
God’s Fury Removed
Awake, awake!
Stand up, O Jerusalem,
You who have drunk at the hand of the Lord
The cup of His fury;
You have drunk the dregs of the cup of trembling,
And drained it out.

Revelation 16:19
Now the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. And great Babylon was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of His wrath.

When Jesus became sin on the cross, God will forsake Him on the cross.

Every sin is wicked and evil. Every sin has been taken on the cross for us!

Luke 22:44
And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

He was crushed at the cross. When His blood mingled with human sweat, we are redeemed from stress!

The blood of Jesus fell to the ground, He redeemed us !

Our Lord Jesus was determined to go to the cross for us. He was never afraid.

Because of us. He loves us.

Time and human history is marked by Jesus’ death. Before Christ and After Christ.

John 18:4
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, “ Whom are you seeking?”

John 18:5-8
They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
Jesus said to them, “ I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them. Now when He said to them, “ I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
Then He asked them again, “ Whom are you seeking?”
And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
Jesus answered, “ I have told you that I am He. Therefore, if you seek Me, let these go their way,”

When they came to arrest Jesus, Jesus stood forward.

The soldiers fell to the ground. Jesus asked them to let His disciples go and only arrest Jesus.

Jesus had the time to heal the soldier’s ear even when He was in the midst of getting “arrested” by them.

Matthew 26:51-52
And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
But Jesus said to him, “ Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword.

Matthew 26:53
Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels?

At any point in time Jesus could have just prayed and His Father will provide more than 12 legions of angels. He has all options. He is NOT helpless.

No one can touch or kill Jesus. It was not His time at that moment.

John 10:10
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

John 10:11
“ I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.

John 10:15
As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

John 10:18
No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”

Matthew 26:67-68
Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”

The Lord never fought back.
Isaiah 50:6
I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

When they were spitting at Him, He stood still and allowed them to spit at Him. He allowed the beating. He gave His back and His face. He never hid.

It is NOT because He can’t fight back.

Jesus was led as a lamb to the cross.
The Roman soldiers beat Him. When they hit Jesus, not only will the whip heat Him. All His skins were whipped out. He could see His own bones. It is literal.

Isaiah 52:14
Just as many were astonished at you,
So His visage was marred more than any man,
And His form more than the sons of men;

The Bible tells us Jesus is altogether lovely, fairest of 10 thousands.

His face is a face u look at and u want to look at Him forever. He loves and He understands.

My Lord and my God. His is a beautiful face. Fairest of 10 thousands, lilies of the valley.

But this same Jesus chose to be disfigured at the cross. He was so disfigured that He did not look like a man. He was an horror at the cross. (In the amplified bible)

Matthew 27:45-46
Jesus Dies on the Cross
Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “ Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

This darkness was for 3 hours. God turned His back on His Son!

God abandoned His Son NOT for selfish reason. He abandoned His Son so that we will not be forsaken and abandoned.

You and I will never ever be abandoned!

Amos 8:9-10
“And it shall come to pass in that day,” says the Lord God,
“That I will make the sun go down at noon,
And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;
I will turn your feasts into mourning,
And all your songs into lamentation;
I will bring sackcloth on every waist,
And baldness on every head;
I will make it like mourning for an only son,
And its end like a bitter day.

God’s Son died at the cross. That was the day of mourning for God. God mourned so that we will never mourn.

This is intense love! This is over the top!

You want to know Jesus and be loved.

Be loved by Jesus!
Experience it for ourselves. It is all in the bible!

Jesus drank every last drop of the cup of fiery so that we will never be in the judgement.

Our cup can then be overflows!

God want us to be healthy, happy, hopeful and He will never leave us nor forsake us!

Jesus drank the cup of God’s fiery.

It is not just enough to pay for our sin. Became poor so that we can be rich. Crown of thorns is a picture of curse. He came a curse so that we can be blessed. He forsook His glorious crown so that we can be blessed!

Jesus took time to fulfil every prophesy about Him in the old testament.

He said He thirst. He was given wine mixed with vinegar. He took the sour wine for us so that He can take our curse. He did every single prophesy and fulfilled for us.

Christ fulfilled 332 and more distinct prophesies in the old testament.

Truth must be backed by evidence.

Jesus IS the Son of God who loves us. Who gave His life for us.
He was anointed with oil of gladness. He is a happy person. Every where He went He was attractive and charismatic.

Jesus was not a Man of sorrow until He was at the cross.
Jesus is a happy Person. He was anointed with the oil of gladness. He was the happiest Man on earth.

He has joy to give. He left His joy behind for His disciples.

He shines like a Sun. In His presence is fullness of joy! He is fearless.

The day finally came. This Man of Joy became Man of Sorrow because He bore our grieve. This beautiful Jesus became a Man of Sorrow at the cross so that we know we can be freed from sorrow. He has borne our grieve. Look at Him! He deserves our admiration! We can believe in Him! God loves us!

Our God is a good God! The fearless One lives in us!
